Capen Hill Nature Sanctuary Founded in 1977, Capen Hill Nature Sanctuary is a beautiful 72-acre wildlife refuge in the heart of central Massachusetts. They are an independent non-profit corporation dedicated to conservation and environmental education. They also have many hiking trails. Their Wildlife Rehabilitation Program provides care for much of the area’s injured and orphaned wildlife. Visitors to the sanctuary often get to view many of the woodland creatures recuperating, in preparation for their release back into the wild. Some of the animals that cannot survive in the wild are maintained as educational exhibits in the sanctuary’s Visitors Center, open to the public 365 days a year- always free of charge. Interns will learn about environmental conservation and animal care through involvement at the sanctuary.
