Catholic Worker House The Catholic Worker House, affiliated with the Catholic Worker Movement founded by Dorothy Day and Peter Marin in the 1930's, is committed to working for peace and justice on many fronts. Thoroughly Catholic in many regards, the Catholic Worker is not to be confused with the kind of conservatism often associated with Catholicism. The sponsors shelter the homeless, sponsor speakers, organize demonstrations, and garner financial support by operating the Bread Not Bombs Bakery. Pro-life from conception to grave, the sponsors are opposed to abortion, though from a feminist standpoint, opposed to war in any form (including financial support of the military). |
