Congressman McGovern's Office

Currently serving his sixth term in Congress, Congressman Jim McGovern was first sworn in as U.S. Representative for Massachusetts' 3rd Congressional District in January, 1997. McGovern has been elected by his New England colleagues to the House Democratic Leadership team as a Regional Whip. McGovern is the Vice Chairman of the powerful House Rules Committee, which sets the terms for debate and amendments on most legislation, and a member of the House Budget Committee.

Working in Congressman McGovern's office gives one excellent exposure to the world of political campaigns and to the people of Worcester.

Required qualifications include good oral and written communication skills, the ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others, good organizational skills and must be responsible, dependable and willing to learn.

Interns are given room to pursue their own issues of interest, to attend functions, review position papers, and assist with the many details of maintaining a government office.
