Injury Free Coalition for Kids

The Injury Free Coalition for Kids is among the country's fastest growing and most effective injury prevention programs. Injury is the number one cause of death and hospitalization of young people throughout the United States. The Injury Free Coalition for Kids is dedicated to changing this public health problem through research, education and advocacy. The Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Worcester, part of the UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center, is one of a group of forty sites nationwide that work to prevent injury to children. They work to create safer communities by empowering diverse populations in a manner that respects various cultures, beliefs and lifestyles.

Interns may have a variety of responsibilities at this internship including: scheduling meetings and training sessions with community groups; assisting with training for community agencies and residents in pediatric injury prevention. An intern will also promote pediatric injury prevention awareness in the community and enlist neighborhood involvement in various community associations and activities.
