WPI Interdisciplinary & Global Studies

Founded in Worcester, Mass. in 1865, WPI is one of the nation's earliest technological universities. WPI's 18 academic departments offer more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degrees, including the M.S., M.E., M.B.A. and Ph.D. They have a world-class faculty who work with the students in a number of cutting-edge research organizations that are discovering innovations in biotechnology, nanotechnology, information security and more.

The Interdisciplinary and Global Studies Division is responsible for overseeing two of the most successful educational innovations to emerge at any college or university in the past half century: the Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) and the Global Perspective Program.

Through the IQP, all WPI undergraduates, whether they are pursuing studies in science, engineering, management of technology, or the humanities, gain experience tackling problems that lie at the interface of science, technology, social issues, and human needs. This unique interdisciplinary requirement brings together students from across the campus to research and address challenges that affect people and communities at home and around the globe.

Through the Global Perspective Program, WPI sends more engineering and science students abroad than any other US university. At 25 Project Centers located around the globe, WPI students address local issues, develop an understanding of other cultures, and see firsthand how their lives and work will play out on a global stage.

This internship may enable an intern to gain an overall view into Worcester Polytechnic Institute's department for Global Studies. Interns will explore higher education while taking on various administrative tasks.
