City of Worcester:
Police Department

In providing the citizens of the City of Worcester a safer community, the dedication and commitment of the men and women of the Worcester Police Department is unmatched. It is their mission to promote the highest level of public safety and quality of life, through exceptional police services to city residents, businesses and visitors - focusing first and foremost on crime prevention, protection of people and property and the preservation of peace and order, through fair equitable enforcement of laws, while carefully safeguarding the dignity of all of those who are touched by the process.

Interns may have an opportunity to work with The Affected Program which is a youth leadership and empowerment campaign developed by the Worcester Police Department and the Worcester Public Schools. Funding has been provided by the Safe Schools Healthy Students Grant Initiative to provide classes on media literacy, media production, interpersonal communication and problem solving strategies. Their mission is to reach out to youth and give them the tools they need to make healthy choices, to enhance their feeling of worthiness, help them develop problem-solving strategies, learn conflict resolution techniques, and show them how to think and live strong.
