Our application can seem quite thorough, but don’t panic!
Take a deep breath… as we break it down into sections.
1. Sections 1-10: Student Application
2. High School/College Transcript
3. Recommendation Form
- Share form with 2 recommenders (1 academic, 1 community)
4. Parent/Guardian Statement
- Share form with parents or guardian
Internship Year is a customized gap year and the application is the first step in personalizing your year or semester. As you’ll see, our application asks you to tell us a lot about yourself: your personality, references, learning style, skills, strengths, challenges, and your hopes for your Internship Year. You’ll complete short answer questions, check boxes and write an essay. If you have more to tell us or want to express yourself more creatively than you can in writing, you have the opportunity to that too. If you’re comfortable doing so, we ask that you share with us any recent educational testing or individualized curriculum that you participated in during high school. We even have a section where your parents(s) or guardians(s) provide their perspective.
We do want to see your academic transcripts, though they play less of a role in our admission process than they do in college admission. Given Dynamy’s hands-on approach, we’re more concerned with the nature of your academic experience, your goals, and your current thinking, which we understand can be difficult to capture in a grade. Additionally, we understand that grades don’t always reflect a student’s true potential as not all learning environments are ideal for every individual.
Now it is time to schedule an interview!
The on-site interview is an essential part of the Internship Year application. It is an opportunity for you to learn more about Dynamy, as much as it is an opportunity for us to learn more about you. We look forward to welcoming you and your family. Please bring your parent(s) or guardian(s) with you as we will conduct a parent/guardian interview as well at that time.
